Single leader decision-making now obsolete

Harvard Business Review June 2005

The Madness of Individuals

The author contrasts the complexity of the organisations we inhabit today with with the groups our Stone Age forebears lived in a hundred thousand years ago.

He concludes that we have now outgrown the 'instinctive faith in hierarchical leadership which is baked in our genes' as the dominant organisational decision-making model.

This resonates with the self-managed bioteaming approach to organisational teams
