Self-organization is the new structure for business: IBM Research
Stumble It!A new IBM research report suggests that the best analogies for businesses in the future may no longer be the command structures of the military but the self-organising networks found in nature: schools of fish, flocks of birds and swarms of insects.
This research, contained in The IBM Global Innovation Outlook 2.0 Report, reinforces Bioteam rule 10: Self-Organising Networks.
The Report also highlights the importance of ‘Porous Corporate Boundaries’ which resonates with another bioteam rule (11): Porous Membranes. Living cells have delicate membranes which let in good stuff like food and symbiants but keep out bad stuff like poisons and parasites.
