Stumble It!John Austin, writing in Tag your Team, discusses how Micro-managing is not Mentoring. John references an article in the Wall Street Journal which suggests that US managers see their management role as limited to one of staff control with no place for mentoring and coaching.
. Most of us know the huge learning benefits a good mentor can provide. So this trend if it develops would result in a new breed of staff who are managed but never have been mentored. This would not bode well for future national competitiveness.
