Mobile e-mail could be next "killer application"

The Battle for the mobile email business has barely begun....The Economist (May 14, 2005)

One of the key principles of bioteaming is "Always On".

This means you should communicate with team members in the way which best suits their mobility profile and accommodates their natural working environment.

This could be different for each member of your virtually networked team and for many team members this means mobile devices.

If Internet-ready PCs don't fit in these natural environments then members need to be communicated with via their mobile phones.

They should also be able to initiate full communications with the rest of their teams from these phones which is a greater challenge.

The Economist considers the impact Microsoft's entry to the market with Windows Mobile for SmartPhones will have on existing market leaders such as the Blackberry from Research in Motion (RIM). It also suggests that 95% of smartphone users would select mobile email above any other smartphone application.
